Human life has changed rapidly, from mankind living in primitive hunting and gathering communities to the complex, diverse, multicultural society we live in today. Sociology is an exciting field of study that examines how we manage and organise social relationships and institutions. The subject matter is diverse, ranging from the study of feral children to the family and education system at AS. At A2 we examine the divisions of race and social class in the study of inequality and causes and consequences of criminality in the study of crime and deviance. Sociology examines the methods of investigation used to study society and how human action and beliefs shape and influence social structures.   You will have the opportunity to examine contemporary society in terms of youth culture, riots, flag protests and the ‘Anti-Capitalist’ movement.
