Year 8 Trocaire Public Speaking Competition

During the season of Lent, our Year 8 pupils have been learning about the importance of ‘Land Rights’ and how they play a vital role in the lives of some of the poorest people in our world. Each Year 8 pupil was asked to create a 2-4 speech minute entitled, “Land Rights are…”. Out of 192 Year 8 pupils, 12 finalists were selected to participate in the annual Trocaire Public Speaking Competition. Our judges, Mrs. McCormick and our two buddies, Clodagh Davis and Adam O’Neill, were absolutely delighted with the effort and enthusiasm of our students. With such a high standard, our judges struggled to make a decision but eventually awarded first place to India Clements, second place to Eve Wilson and third place to Ronald Mathew. Congratulations to all of the finalists!
