The Titanic Quarter, in all its grandeur and splendour, was a fitting venue to celebrate those who achieved top in Northern Ireland in CCEA at GCSE and ‘A’ level. Charlie Kelly, Lower Sixth, was awarded a trophy for securing joint first in Further Mathematics and was also given the John Megaud memorial prize for excellence in Mathematics. Mrs McKenna, Charlie’s teacher, attended the ceremony with Charlie and his family. Mrs Hamilton was also in attendance, as was Mrs Lavery whose pupil, Michael Kelly, achieved first in German at ‘A’ level. Justin Edwards, Chief Executive of CCEA, addressed the candidates, highlighting the standards of education in Northern Ireland and congratulated them on their tremendous achievements. Derek Baker, the Permanent Secretary for Education, also spoke and commended the pupils on their excellent accomplishments.
