Soroptimist Public Speaking Competition

On Wednesday 23rd November, four Lower 6th students: Lara Mc Glinchey, Lucy Marron, Jane McWilliams and Grace Magee took part in the 'Soroptimist' Public Speaking competition in Hillsborough. The Rathmore girls did extremely well taking 2 out of the 4 commended spots. Grace Magee placed 2nd speaking on ‘Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire’ – W B Yeats, and Lucy Marron was highly commended speaking on ‘Freedom of the press is a precious privilege that no country can forgo’ – Ghandi. Well done to all the students involved for writing and delivering fantastic speeches.
