Thanks to our Music and RE Departments for organising such a beautiful Carol Service. There were two services with the juniors going in the morning and the seniors attended in the afternoon. Well done to all the pupils who took part, they were lovely.
The Student Council met with Mrs Hamilton, Dr Donnelly and Mrs Magee to discuss various issues some of which included vegetarian options in the canteen, recycling of paper and reduction of plastic in school, homework, assessments, GCSE modules and the DEAR campaign.
On Saturday 7th December seven of our U20 Gaelic team completed a Youth Club referees course, allowing our girls to referee up to U14 level. The girls involved included Maddie Donnelly, Clodagh Hayes, Aoibhean Larkin, Ciara Austin, Emma Dixon, Ellen Morgan and Riona Matthews. A big thank you to our coach Seamus for inviting our girls and to Community Sports Network and Gaelfast for facilitating the course. Looking forward to see our girls refereeing soon! Well done.
This week Year 9, 10 and 11 pupils were treated to a STEM workshop and demonstration focused on Space. Scott Marley from Imperial College, London visited to discuss how science and engineering has been involved in the exploration of space. He demonstrated the science behind many of the discoveries in space and how engineers have harnessed these to explore Space through manned and unmanned craft.
184 Festive Year 10 students attended a Live Theatre performance of A Christmas Carol in the MAC Theatre, Belfast. The students have been studying the text in Drama and English. They journeyed to Christmas past, present and future and even managed to meet The Writer Tara Lynne O’Neill (Ma From ‘Derry Girls’.) It was a wonderful morning celebrating the students first term of hard work.
