Ciara Brennan and Olivia McCrystal were also crowned the Senior Ulster Schools Golf Champions last Friday at Edenmore Golf Club. Both girls have now qualified for the All Ireland Schools Golf Championships to be held on Monday 23rd April at Milltown Golf Club, Dublin. Congratulations to all our Netball teams who took part in the Northern Ireland Netball Cup competition last Wednesday. The Intermediate team followed up their win of the Schools Netball League with another outstanding win in the Netball Cup competition beating Glenlola Collegiate in the final. A BBC journalist for twenty years, Felicity McCall is now a full-time writer as well as an occasional broadcaster, arts facilitator and actor. Publications include fiction, non-fiction, plays and a graphic novel. On Wednesday 21st March, Felicity paid a visit to Rathmore library where she shared her experience of being a journalist and writer. The Advanced Reading group visited the McClay Library at Queen's University. They were given a tour of the library and a wonderful talk on its history. Pupils were given access to the library's special collection. Three librarians provided a specialist insight to the collections which included Seamus Heaney's notebooks, essays and poetry as a student. We would like to say a special thank you to Norma and Susan for organising the visit.

On Wednesday 14th our students celebrated Pi Day. They took part in a range of group logic challenges, reciting competitions and some classes made Pi displays. The pupils enjoyed the day and learned a lot about the importance of Pi too!
On Friday 16th the Year 8s had a disco after school to raise money for Trócaire. Everyone had a great time and went home exhausted after all the dancing! A huge thank you to Creighton's on Blacks Road, in particular Pauline, for supplying the treats for the disco and allowing the school to raise lots for this very worthy cause.
On Tuesday 13th March, John Higgins, Noyal Jayan and Ciara Larkin went to Dublin to compete in the Final of the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad. They fought off tough competition in the preliminary round to earn their place in the final. Of over 1300 participants, they were among the top 100 finalists. They enjoyed the day and were wonderful ambassadors for the school.
Congratulations to our debaters who took on St. Joseph's College Lucan and successfully defended the motion 'to help achieve the SDGs, the 'Robin Hood' tax must be adopted globally'.
