StartFragment Our Year 8 STEM Club continued on Wednesday 23rd November with pupils demonstrating a range of engineering skills through the use of machinery and computer aided manufacture techniques to produce a festive product that illuminates when it senses an incoming call or text. On Wednesday 16th November, members of the Year 8 STEM Club took part in some fun maths activities. Working together, the teams carried out investigative work that required them to use their maths skills to complete a scavenger hunt around the school. Congratulations to four Year 13 pupils who were recently awarded the prestigious Arkwright Scholarship Award. Conall Campbell, Matthew Miskimmon, Daniel McBride-Mallon and Mark Conlon join a growing list of previously successful students who have benefited from the Scholarship which aims to inspire future leaders of the Engineering profession. As part of a varied programme of lunchtime and extra-curricular activities, some of our budding Year 8 scientists took part in a series of experiments through the Year 8 STEM club. The pupils enjoyed investigating volume and pressure in water through a range of creative experiments and are looking forward to the upcoming STEM activtities.
The Languages department is extremely proud of its GCSE and A -Level pupils who were awarded top marks in Northern Ireland this year. James Gallagher was placed Joint 1st in Northern Ireland in GCSE Spanish and Joint 2nd in French, Mark Conlon was placed Joint 3rd in GCSE Spanish, Thomas McKeown was placed Joint 1st in GCSE German, Daniel Biging Loughran was placed Joint 3rd in German and Hannah Matthews was placed Joint 2nd in A-Level German.
