Future Chef is a high profile national cookery competition for 12-16 year olds, which aims to inspire young people to explore food and cooking as a life skill, and helps to develop their culinary talent.

The journey to the Northern Ireland Final started with a School Heat in November when our Year 11 GCSE class competed to represent Rathmore in the Local Finals. This was hotly contested and was a very difficult job for the judges. After much deliberation it was agreed that Grace Prosser was a well deserved winner.
In the local final Grace prepared a delicious hot main course of Smoked Haddock & Leek Risotto and a sumptuous dessert of Chocolate & Raspberry Mousse within a budget of £6. The competition was fierce and was judged by industry chefs, including the Executive Head Chef of the prestigious Merchant Hotel. Grace was chosen to compete in the Northern Ireland Final!
Prior to the final Grace will be given a once in a lifetime opportunity to be mentored by Johnnie Leake, the Executive Head Chef of the award winning Merchant Hotel. He will support Grace as she proceeds to the Northern Ireland Future Chef 2012 final in Downpatrick on the 8th February.
Well done Grace on your fantastic achievement – We are all very proud of what you have accomplished.
Good Luck in the final.
