Home Economics Department
Home Economics prepares young people for the variety of challenges they will face in the ever-changing, consumer orientated, technological world they find themselves in. The central focus of this subject is the consideration of the home and the family in relation to the development of the individual and society. Home Economics is designed to allow pupils to obtain the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to make informed decisions which should enable them to improve the quality of their lives and those of others. The three main areas of study, Home and Family Life, Healthy Eating and Independent Living, are delivered through units of work which incorporate a variety of practical learning activities which prepare pupils for the opportunities and responsibilities of adult life.
