Media Studies Department
Media Studies is a vibrant and exciting new department in Rathmore Grammar. The department uses the most cutting edge technology and software avaialble, encouraging students to film, direct and edit their own video projects. Each student has access to an individual Macbook laptop, through which they edit film, create soundtracks, develop titles, research, blog and create websites. The Media Studies department prides itself on being a centre of excellence in multi-media technologies, and the majority of the videos on the Rathmore website have been created by students of the Department. In the AS year, students will create their own opening to a new fiction film, alonside studying the Music Industry and British TV Drama. At A2, pupils make thier own music videos and study aspects of regulation and change within new media.The Media Studies department in Rathmore hopes to equip students to an industry standard level of competence in the use of software and technology and prepare students for a career in a rapidly changing digital world.
